Bio

Prof. Mukund Wagh is a seasoned designer and educator with three decades of professional expertise spanning furniture design, product manufacturing, and workshop development. Transitioning from a successful 17-year industrial career to academia in 2011, he bridges the gap between conceptual design and tangible execution. His pedagogy is grounded in hands-on craftsmanship, emphasizing material fluency, functional prototyping, and practical sustainability. He is dedicated to mentoring students in translating complex ideas into functional realities through rigorous studio practice.

Professional Experience

Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the MIT School of Design, Vishwaprayag University (Solapur), Prof. Wagh conducts specialized courses in Material Studios and Product Design. His academic leadership includes a tenure as Studio In-charge at DJ Academy of Design (2019–2024), where he built the Industrial Design studio from scratch, and roles at Vishwakarma University and Symbiosis Institute of Design, where he guided large-scale metal installations.

Prior to education, he was the Proprietor of Mukund Furniture Works (1994–2011), executing customized solutions for architects and exhibition stalls (Auto-Expo, Tool Tech). Notable industry contributions include manufacturing a large-scale stainless-steel sculpture for Suzlon’s corporate office and co-developing sustainable packaging for Duke bikes.
