Bachelor of Design
(B.Des)

About the Program

The Bachelor of Design (B.Des) at MIT Vishwaprayag University is a transformative 4-year undergraduate program that brings together core design disciplines and studio-based learning — empowering students to transform ideas into meaningful design outcomes. Whether your interest lies in product design, communication design, or UX design, the program provides the perfect environment to explore, experiment, and grow as a creative professional in India's rapidly expanding design economy.

Learning at the School of Design is hands-on at its core. State-of-the-art labs and studios give students the freedom to prototype, test, and refine ideas. With project-driven learning, dedicated mentorship from industry practitioners, and strategic partnerships with leading design organizations, the program builds the critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills that today's design-led industries demand.

MIT Vishwaprayag University's B.Des graduates are equipped for careers across UX/UI design, brand communication, digital media, product development, design research, and creative direction — with the comprehensive creative and technical foundation to make a meaningful impact at design studios, technology companies, FMCG brands, media organizations, and entrepreneurial ventures.

Be a Bahumukhi

The Bahumukhi philosophy at MIT Vishwaprayag University transforms every B.Des graduate into a multi-dimensional design thinker who operates at the intersection of creativity, empathy, technology, and strategy. A Bahumukhi designer does not merely execute briefs — they question assumptions, understand users deeply, build solutions that resonate, and create experiences that endure. They combine the visual sensibility of an artist, the analytical rigour of a researcher, the empathy of a psychologist, and the commercial awareness of a strategist.

We cultivate in our B.Des graduates the ability to navigate design challenges across disciplines — from crafting intuitive digital interfaces to building powerful brand identities, from designing sustainable physical products to creating compelling motion narratives. Whether launching a design studio, leading UX at a tech company, building a global brand, or driving product innovation at a manufacturing enterprise, our graduates enter every creative space not merely qualified but genuinely prepared for the design leadership challenges ahead.

Program Specialisations

Students choose from three specializations across Years 3 and 4 — each built around focused studio courses, live projects, and real-world briefs — creating a distinctive design career pathway aligned to the most in-demand disciplines of India's creative economy.

Student Testimonials

The UX Design specialization was exactly what I needed to break into tech. The Figma workshops, user research projects, and the live app redesign brief we worked on in Semester 5 gave me a portfolio that stood out in every interview. I landed my role at a Pune-based product startup before graduation.

B.Des 2024 · UX Designer at a Product Startup, Pune

Communication Design at MIT VPU pushed me far beyond what I expected. The motion graphics lab, the live branding project for an FMCG client, and the mentorship from faculty who actually work in the industry — it all came together in a portfolio I'm genuinely proud of. My first agency job was confirmed within two weeks of my final show.

B.Des 2024 · Junior Art Director at a Design Agency, Mumbai

Product Design here is unlike anything I expected from a college program. The fabrication lab, the sustainability module, and the 3D CAD workshops changed how I see design entirely. My graduation project — a sustainable furniture line — was shortlisted for a national design award and got me into a manufacturing company's design team.

B.Des 2023 · Product Designer at a Manufacturing Company

The School of Design gave me more than a degree — it gave me a design identity. The studio culture, the way faculty pushed you to question every brief, the partnerships with real industry clients — by Year 4 I wasn't just a student, I was already thinking and working like a professional designer. I started my own freelance studio in my final semester.
